Activities close-by

In the immediate area or within a short travelling distance there are a multitude of sporting activities available. Many are centred on the natural landscape of rolling hills, woodland, rivers, canals and lakes. With a population density of only 43 habitants/km2, there is plenty of room to relax and to enjoy nature.

Should you wish to "stay at home", you can profit from the park with its century-old trees (such as a Virginia Tulip Tree, a majestic Purple Beech spreading more than 25m, a Ginko Bolobab ...) which harbour numerous animals: owls, woodpeckers, nightingales, redtails, chaffinches, nuthatches, buzzards (a pair nests in the park), hedgehogs, stoats and squirrels. Close-by, you might spot kingfishers, herons, deer, wild boar, badgers - and many other species.

In the near future, you will also be able to choose between the billiard room, a gymnasium, an outdoor exercise circuit and of course, there is our lawn tennis court - a rarity in France! But you can also spend a leisurely afternoon in front of a log fire with a good book (a library is at your disposal), listening to music or watching a film in our home cinema.

Walking

The village of Breurey is fortunate to own 1200 hectares of forest, which the public is free to enjoy (subject to following normal safety regulations). There are surfaced roads into the heart of the forest from where walkers can follow a network of tracks and footpaths. The forest is home to a wide variety of flora and faune.

Cycling & Mountain Biking

Many of Breurey's forest tracks are suitable for mountain biking or normal cycling (we have some mountain bikes available for guest use) and close to hand there are many kilometres of quiet roads and tracks well suited for cyclists.

If you cannot imagine taking a holiday without your dog or cat, bring him or her with you.

Riding and Carriage Driving

Riding is available at Faverney (4km).

Franche-Comté is home to the Comtois work-horse. Therefore, it should be no surprise that horse-drawn caravans can be hired in the area.

Golf

The par 72 course of Luxeuil Bellevue is only 20km away by pretty country lanes. Lessons and courses are available from the French Coaching Champion for 2007.

Green fees start from €35 for non-members (18 holes).

Fishing

Haute Saône has several excellent fishing rivers, the Lanterne (which passes through Breurey), the Ognon and of course, the Saône which winds its way for 140km across the Departement.

Day fishing permits are available.

Thermal Spa

The town of Luxeuil les Bains, just 20 km away, is centred around its health spa where a wide range of treatments and massages is available. In conjunction with the spa, we offer a special 2 days/one night package. Contact the Office du Tourisme.

There is also the lovely Napoleon III spa town of Plombières les Bains known as the town "of a thousand balconies."

Casino

Close to the spa of Luxeuil is the casino where you can play blackjack, roulette, stud poker or try your luck with the one-armed bandits!
